Ergon Refining, Inc. and Ergon, West Virginia, Inc. Successfully Transition to ISO 9001:2000

Thu., Nov 20, 2003

Ergon Refining, Inc., (ERI) and Ergon – West Virginia, Inc., (EWV) – ERI and EWV have achieved compliance to Quality Management System requirements in March 2003 and June 2003, respectively. Both refineries have registered to the ISO 9001:2000 Quality Standard from the Quality Evaluation Division of the American Bureau of Shipping (ABS, QE) based in Houston, Texas.

Upon issuance of the ISO 9001:2000 standard in December 2000, all ISO 9000:1994 registered companies were required to convert their management system to the revised ISO 9001:2000 standard by December 15, 2003. ERI and EWV determined that the changes in the ISO standard, such as inclusion of Customer Satisfaction, Analysis of Data, and Quality Objective processes, were already part of their management systems. Over the next two and a half years, the companies formally documented the “new” systems for the existing management system. Throughout the process, training and internal audits were performed to ensure that the companies were ready for their registrar audits. As of October 1, 2003, 26.9% of the companies in the United States holding an ISO 9000:1994 certification had successfully transitioned their management systems to the ISO 9000:2000*.

Ergon Refining, Inc. and Ergon – West Virginia, Inc. are wholly owned subsidiaries of Ergon, Inc. Ergon, Inc., privately held, operates under six primary business segments: Refining & Marketing, Asphalt & Emulsions, Transportation & Terminaling, Oil & Gas, Information Technology and Real Estate.
