Premium Diesel Fuel will Surpass EPA Requirements

Newell, West Virginia --- Ergon-West Virginia, Inc. announced the startup of its new diesel hydrotreating and hydrodewaxing unit, (DHT). This unit produces the new Ultra Low Sulfur Diesel (ULSD) in compliance with EPA standards requiring diesel produced by refineries for on-road use must contain less than 15 parts per million of sulfur. The new ULSD product will be required by diesel engines beginning with the 2007 model year. The 8,000 barrels per day of ULSD produced in the Newell refinery comes from over 20,000 barrels per day of crude oil gathered by Ergon from oil producers in the states of Ohio, West Virginia, Pennsylvania and New York. Ergon’s ULSD is a premium product that exceeds all ASTM and EPA requirements and has a very high Cetane Number. The DHT has the added feature of catalytic hydrodewaxing so that the ULSD product has the low cloud and low pour points required in the region. This investment of over forty-five million dollars, is a further demonstration of the deep commitment by Ergon to the continued growth and viability of the Newell refinery and its employees, suppliers and customers.
